TE PUNA Students

are learning to:

Grow healthy vegetables to eat

This is Te Puna's garden on 14th June 2011

We think we should...

•put on rotting bamboo leaves
•chuck out the poisonous green potatoes
•pull the greedy weeds out
•take the bark away
•get new soil
•give the karo a haircut
•leave the silver beet and the parsley

Leave the apple trees and native fern for shade.

Ask Steve the expert what to do.
We need to dig up the greedy weeds and put them on the compost heap.
We need to dig the soil over, and bring the good soil to the top.
We need to plant our vegetables in rows.
All our ideas are good ones.
We need to take out the bark, so the vegetable shoots can grow.
We need to make pathways so we can look after our plants.
Look out for snails and slugs !

Te Puna Master Chef

We went to wash our hands to cook the stir-fry.
We cut up the pieces to put in the wok to cook our stir-fry.
We ate it in bowls.
I used a fork but Layson used chopsticks.
