Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura o Peria.

Since joining Peria School in 2018, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth and transformation of our kura. From a roll of 40 students, we are proud to now have over 80 tamariki learning, thriving, and growing in our beautiful rural setting.

Peria School has a rich history that we treasure and honour every day. Our connection to Kauhanga Marae and the hau kāinga is central to who we are — guiding our values, shaping our identity, and grounding our learning in kaupapa Māori. Our school is deeply rooted in the values of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), manaakitanga (care and respect), ako (reciprocal learning), and whakamanawanui (resilience and perseverance). These are not just words, they are the foundation of everything we do.

We are incredibly proud of our holistic approach to education. At Peria School, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our curriculum reflects the unique character of our community and environment, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. We set high expectations for our students, academically, socially, and culturally, and support them to meet those expectations in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Our school is surrounded by lush, green grounds that inspire play, discovery, and a strong enviro focus. From our vegetable gardens to our outdoor learning spaces, we teach our tamariki the importance of sustainability and caring for Papatūānuku.

While we are a small and geographically isolated school, our students never miss out. We are a well-resourced, modern learning environment where dreams are nurtured and ambitions are achieved. Our dedicated staff and whānau work together as one team, dreaming big, working hard, and making things happen for our learners.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We welcome you to connect with us, visit our kura, and see for yourself what makes Peria School such a special place to learn and grow.

Ngā mihi nui,
